Between the forest and the city
Our first TV arrived when I was 14, my first computer at 16. I grew up playing in the street with almost no technology around, and that machine fascinated me right away: I wanted to understand what was inside it.
A hospital line changed everything
I had an accident and saw my mother crying in a hospital line, with very few resources. That is when I decided to be a better son. I became a different student and started helping classmates who struggled.
My first class
I started teaching technical courses. I grew up watching my parents teach at church, and my sister became a teacher. From them I inherited my belief in people.
University professor
Always one step further: understanding why someone was not learning. Looking for the root cause became the way I work.
Leading academic programs
I started leading faculty, students and projects. I supervised more than 100 research projects and helped create more than 50 business plans. Research in entrepreneurship and innovation became the core of my career.
